Blessings of showers

Kudjip and the surrounding area has been experiencing a bit of a dry spell.  Well, more than a bit.  Gardens have started to shrivel and water tanks to run dry.  We were getting desperate.  (For more on the water situation, follow this link to my blog on "Rain, rain...".)

Many prayers from around the world were raised heavenward, asking for rain.

Thanks be to Papa God for the blessings of showers!  We have had several good rains over the past few days.  Our water tank is now full to overflowing :).

There Shall Be Showers of Blessing
words by Daniel W. Whittle (1883)
music by James McGranahan (1883)

"There shall be showers of blessing" --
This is the promise of love.
There shall be seasons refreshing,
Sent from the Savior above.

Showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need.
Mercy drops round us are falling,
But for the showers we plead.

"There shall be showers of blessing" --
Precious reviving again --
Over the hills and the valleys,
Sound of abundance of rain.

"There shall be showers of blessing."
Send them upon us, O Lord.
Grant to us now a refreshing;
Come, and now honor Thy Word.

"There shall be showers of blessing."
O that today they might fall,
Now as to God we're confessing,
Now as on Jesus we call!

  1. Thank the Lord! I've been praying every day. Now pray for N. Texas. Today will be the 15th day in a row over 100 degrees F. Of course, we kind of expect that around here this time of year. But always grateful for some rain!

  2. I absolutely DO NOT miss the 100 degree weather. Though I do miss Texas!

  3. I am so glad you got rain. You could have washed your hair in it and enjoyed a real shower, since didn't you say you didn't have enough rain to take real showers lately?

  4. I did splurge and have a REAL shower today. It was soooooooo nice!
